The bar crowd when they congregate outside to smoke is a major turnoff. I've had good takeout from here but the food this past Friday was horrible. The General Tso's was over cooked, dry and hard as a rock. The shrimp in the Schezuan shrimp was small and tasteless. It's become almost impossible to find good Chinese food in Hamden

Have been getting take out from here at least once a month for the last few years. The take out is pretty solidly consistent and we're very happy with it. It's also a great value. We have tried other places, but we always come back. That's enough to keep our business. The reason that I am taking off a star is because I don't think that I would ever dine in. The dining room is typically very empty, and the bar tends to attract a crowd of working class people that doesn't fit in with the ambiance of what you would expect in a Chinese restaurant. It just doesn't make taking your family there for dinner attractive. If I were the owners, I would:Cut the bar off from the restaurant and install a separate entrance with a different name. Then, I would clear out the main dining room of it's TV and empty tables to expand the bar. (An unused seating area that is used for the owners to do paperwork is a turn off.) Finally, I would take some tables from the dining area under the glass and make it a bit more upscale.

I have known the owner for a few years, and can attest to his committment to preparing a very enjoyable dinner. The staff is very attentive to your wants, and there is a dining room under a glass enclosure. You can enjoy your meal under ...?
